So Zen Box is a lifestyle themed subscription box with tools and items curated from Black-owned businesses. We are based in Boston and ship worldwide.
So Zen Box is more than just a box. Our vision is that it will become a lifestyle experience with products from black, brown, and minority owned businesses. We want to offer a connection to a community through online discussion boards, how-to videos, workout videos, webinars and more.
We want to bring the fun of discovering new brands through subscription boxes to Black owned brands.
Treat yourself or someone you care about with a monthly surprise, a quarterly delivery or a one time gift. Or find other subscription boxes from minority owned businesses.
For about four years, before the pandemic, I owned and operated a mobile spa, which offered on-site spa services at corporate events and weddings. The idea for that business came out of watching and listening to the people around me and what they needed. I wanted to offer wellness and beauty services to women in a convenient way, so we would go into their homes and offices and perform in-person services like massage and manicures.
I decided that I would have to find a new way to continue to deliver that same feeling of delight to customers. Now, instead of in-person services, it is through So Zen Box, a lifestyle subscription box with tools and items curated from Black owned brands. I grew up in a suburb on the North Shore of Massachusetts, where we only had access to mainstream brands that were not made for diverse hair and skin types, or shades of skin. As Founder and CEO of So Zen Box, I want to give people a fun and convenient way to discover Black owned brands. We launched last month and gained 21 subscribers! I love discovering new brands myself and sharing what I’ve found with a broader community. We hope to reach 500 subscribers in the next 12 month.
