K-Mama Sauce is a vegan Korean hot sauce made from my mother’s recipe. We deliver Korean flavors easily! We operate out of Northeast Minneapolis, but are readily available in retail locations like Target/Whole Foods Market/Hy-Vee’s in Minnesota, Illinois, Wisconsin, Iowa, and the Dakotas.
From Italian, Chinese, Mexican, Vietnamese, American, this sauce goes on all foods and the basics like sandwiches and chips as well. We have the privilege of having over 30 different ethnic groups try out the sauce, and they all love it.
When I first moved to MN 11 years ago, I missed my mother’s home-cooked meals, and I realized Korean food was not readily available. I wanted to recreate my mother’s flavors and package it to sell for all to taste. When we launched in farmers markets, we recognized how important it was to make our products clean by creating a gluten free, vegan, and MSG free option.
I initially started K-Mama Sauce to fundraise for my local church. Having non-profit & community service backgrounds, I knew that I wanted to give 30% of profits from this business right back into the local community. Since starting the business in 2015, I have become more locally active both in my public service as a community organizer and in events with K-Mama Sauce.
My favorite sauce growing up and to this day is the Korean hot sauce gochujang. When I moved to Minnesota over 10 years ago, I missed my mom’s version of her sauce. My pastor, who had the idea of a Korean hot sauce like Sriracha, encouraged me to start a business to share Korean flavors with a hot sauce. Initially hesitant, I saw that this business brought together my passions for Korean food and community impact. Six years ago, I launched K-Mama Sauce based on my mother’s gochujang recipe. We started off at farmers markets, and now it sells at local Targets, Whole Foods, co-ops, on Amazon, and our own website.
Right from the beginning, our core values were to provide a delicious and highest quality sauce (vegan, GF, MSG free), treat our staff humanely, and designate 30% of all corporate profit to my church’s ministries like affordable housing, permanent agriculture, and job-training skills. While the sauce is traditionally used in Korean dishes it may be used on all types of food!

Hi, my name is KC, and my mother cooked home made sauce that was a bit sweet, complex, spicy, and went on a variety of Korean dishes. Once I moved to Minnesota I felt a bit empty and I didn’t know why. I soon realized, it was because I missed my mom’s home-cooked meals, and Korean food in general. That is how I came up with K-Mama, (KC’s mama or Korean mama) because of the need to add soul to my meals.
No, we are not. However, we are lab-tested gluten-free at fewer than 0.10 ppm (parts per million).
Our original flavor is about a 3/10 on the spice scale and our spicy flavor is about a 4/10 on the spice scale. Our gluten-free variety is also a 3/10 on the spice scale. However, how spicy the sauce tastes varies by individual.
