Grassrootz Bookstore reading list for Black August and beyond. Stay tuned for some book clubs we’ll be launching and partnering with to raise the collective consciousness to racism and sexism. We’re adding some of these titles to our site and library you can also grab from dope bookstores.
Ali Nervis opened Grassrootz Books and Juice Bar in the Eastlake Park Neighborhood in 2019 using Arizona small business loans, their own savings, and government small business grant programs for black entrepreneurs.
The bookstore also has a coworking space, which can help entrepreneurs of color. They can share ideas and resources, even including applications for black small business grants in Arizona.
Popular titles in its catalog include “The Color of Money: Black Banks and the Racial Wealth Gap” and “Color of Law: A Forgotten History of How Our Government Segregated America.” It accepts online orders. Nervis has a juice bar as well as create a coworking component within the space, too.
The coworking space can help other Maricopa Black and Latino start-up companies in Phoenix Arizona get the support they need.
