We, Freedom Paper Company, are a privately owned light manufacturer and master distributor of personal paper (bathroom tissue, paper towels, etc), personal care (laundry detergent, toothpaste, etc), Jan San general (cleaning products), restaurant, stationary, and janitorial products for both residential and commercial demand. We started in 2011, after a year’s worth of research about the industry. We found that the paper goods industry, unlike most other businesses, grew during the “Great Recession” years in the US. We also found that there were little to no minority-owned companies in the industry. We saw opportunities. We operate from our warehouse location in Baltimore MD, serving commercial interest by on sight and direct customer interaction and online through our website. Deliveries are made via carrier across the Continental US and via drivers locally. We have been in business for 10 years and there is a tremendous amount of growth ahead of us as we procure the assistance needed.
Kamose’s story
I grew up in the city of Baltimore USA. Baltimore is a great city but also known to be one of the roughest cities in the US. I was fortunate to have a mom who stressed hard work and learning. I think I have always wanted to be an entrepreneur. My mom told me that when I was about 5 years old, she asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up and I said a businessman.
Freedom Paper Company was born from a research project to look at how the Black community is affected by the lack of businesses owned and the lack of industry presence throughout. The paper goods and related products industries are robust but very competitive. When we started in 2011, there were only a handful of Black-owned companies in the US in the paper goods industry. We found a niche by bringing high-quality, people-friendly (nontoxic), environmentally friendly (earth-safe) products to the market in a bulk manner. We give our customers more for their money, so we are economically friendly as well. Add to that our commitment to community service in working with groups and organizations benefiting people at large, our hiring of those in underserved communities and returning home after paying their debt to society, along with working with and selling small manufactures products to build other companies while we grow and you have the making of Freedom Paper Company.
