Drool Central: A Mum & Pup Barkery was born out of necessity to feed my then adopted yellow labrador food from nature and not concocted from a lab.
Like the mission of Drool Central: A Mum & Pup Barkery that manufactures from scratch wild Alaska fish, Alaska Grown vegetables and barley in dog treats and dog meals. Drool Central is a women owned business and it does not use or include salt, refined sugar, processed fats, artificial preservatives, substitutions, flavorings or seasonings, colorings, spices or any pungent flavors, corn, soy and wheat in all of its products. Awareness of dog nutrition, welfare, care, laws and why dogs are important to humans.
A business mission to focus on using Alaska’s natural resources. They also focus on supporting and mentoring other women and minority owned businesses in rural Alaska. Find a directory of women owned businesses.
Thus, wild Alaska fish from salmon, cod, halibut are in full use from their skins, bones, livers, collars, napes, backbones are sustainably acquired. Adding to that are Alaska Grown vegetables, farm animal meats, and organs, and barley. With the rest of the ingredients added into each treat and meal, resourced naturally and organically.
My philosophy is to NOT add or use salt, sugar, processed fats, artificial preservatives, substitutions, artificial colorings, flavorings or seasonings, spices, corn, soy, and wheat. Since the latter part of 2013 in its testing stage, I held firm on this philosophy. I have been operating in a rented house. Every year, the business has been getting busier than the house oven, the sink, the house cannot cope anymore with my production. I would like to have a brick & mortar that I could operate the production, open up a little shop and have a bedroom for me and my puppy. I have in all these years in business operating Drool Central, that I am thankful for its purpose and for its gift of meeting the four-legged and making friends with their dog parents.
Because I have proven that my business fulfills the need, and my customers have been satisfied, therefore, I would like to go on and this time, I would like to hire an extra body in a haven where my vision is fulfilled. Every year, my sales have increased dramatically and have proven, that natural good food resourced locally is dog sent. Drool Central has an angle that can’t be ignored.
Daisy’s story
After having cooked for humans for decades, I am much more content with making dogs healthy and happy. I have attended two culinary schools in San Francisco at the Ritz Carlton there. I enjoyed both sides of the culinary spectrum: savory & pastry. I enjoyed my journey into cooking at various hotels, restaurants, and resorts from California, Utah, Washington, Nevada, New York, and Alaska.
It was cooking for fishing lodges in remote Alaska that I enjoyed the most because my dog, Dallas, can be with me. After the last lodge chef job in 2012, I decided I would test the waters in starting my own business which has been my dream all my life. I always have that entrepreneurial spirit knowing when and how to sell an idea or product without the “sales talk.” I have in various stages in my life sold things here and there, and the successful ventures were the ones I operated myself and not working for somebody. I take pride in the business I built in Drool Central: A Mum & Pup Barkery which is now more than 7 years old and going. My inspiration for this business, Dallas, has died suddenly recently of undetected tumors at age 14 years, 5 months and 21 days. My dog’s absence cements my company’s mission to continue her inspiration to provide healthy natural real food for the dogs. Every year I see Drool Central’s revenues increase steadily through my own blood, sweat, and tears literally. Every possible opportunity there is, I’ll be there.
