I started my business because I couldn’t find exactly what I was looking for for my then 3-year-olds birthday t-shirt. I needed funding to start as well, and turned to free government grants as well as small business loans from a credit union. Those resources greatly benefited for as a form of financial help for a black women owned business. Find national government grants and loans for Black women owned businesses.
It went beyond tees into Tumbler art because I got so frustrated that I would paint a great set of nails and then have to take them off for another PR sample. Tumbler art gave me a bigger canvas and it would stay forever. I loved using my nail art inspiration to create masterpieces for my customers. I also loved creating anything my customers had in mind. Since I started this journey nearly 4 years ago my business has expanded into home decor and that’s the true direction I see for my business. Helping people add a piece of them into their home that isn’t mass-produced is the ultimate win.
Deja’s story
I am a creator. I was born to create. I love using my hands to make things whether it be food, tumbler art, nail art, or more recently wood pieces. I look forward to finding this loan to continue showing my kids the power of believing in themselves and setting goals. They are my motivation to keep going every day. They are my inspiration when creating. Every day rebuilding while Black is the ultimate goal. I know my ancestors are so so proud of my tenacity and my persistence in never giving up because I am creating more Black History every day as they live through me.
