My wife and I started Avanti Coffee Company to help coffee farmers in rural mountain villages earn a living wage for their premium, organic beans. We had already been working on agriculture programs in Haiti for several years through our nonprofit organization, Haiti Foundation Against Poverty.

When coffee is grown above the clouds, it tastes even more like a sip of heaven. Avanti coffee beans are grown at altitudes averaging 1,500m above sea level. They are premium beans that also allow minorities, immigrants, and local residents in Haiti work.

These high altitudes produce premium coffee beans due to their low oxygen rates which allow each bean to have a slower, more flavorful growing process. High altitudes also greatly reduce the need for pesticides, allowing us to use all-organic farming methods from start to finish. While we do not pay for USDA Organic Certification, the integrity of our brand and our beans is important to us and we stand by our commitment to sustainable, organic farming.

Through Avanti Coffee Company, we wanted to help farmers who lost their homes and economy in Hurricane Matthew. That was the start, but since then we have helped employ many other native Haitians. Avanti is buying their coffee crops at a fair wage which protects farmers and their families.

I love coffee and I am passionate about bringing low-acid, premium, organic coffee to our customers in the states. We currently import our beans and roast them with a local family-owned roasting company in Orlando. We sell our coffee online and also at local pop up markets. We also wholesale both green and roasted beans to coffee shops and roasters. We also sell at other coffee shops online and near you.

My wife and I operate our business from our home office. I also travel to Haiti to work directly with our farmers and assess the coffee fields.

At Avanti, direct trade means we not only know who our farmers are, but we take time to understand their needs, get to know their families, and even work alongside them in the field on occasion. We buy our beans directly from the farmers, ensuring they are paid appropriately and that their dignity is protected. Our direct trade model benefits our customers not only as an ethical value they can feel good about drinking, but also as increased quality assurance. Our farmers are proud of their work. They tend to their crops with extra care and attention because Avanti coffee beans are the future of their families.

I am an American citizen who was born and raised in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. As a young boy, I had a burning passion to learn the English language. I would even trade meals in exchange for English training, even though I grew up often hungry.

My parents passed away during my childhood and I needed to step up and provide for myself and my five younger siblings as a young teenager. I became an entrepreneur for the first time by creating jewelry to sell to foreigners who visited my country. My mind continued to seek creative ways to earn an income to feed myself and my siblings and to finish school.

I am passionate about business and job creation, and how these two things can help bring people from my birth country out of abject poverty. I love giving back and empowering people to use their gifts to be successful. I am passionate about being a life-long learner and improving my skills every day. I speak three languages, I am a photographer, nonprofit director, and entrepreneur. I am blessed to live in Orlando with my wife and our two young sons.
