My business name is Love Thy Locs, LLC, which I started in 2019, and it was incorporated at the beginning of 2021. I specialize in maintaining and styling multicultural locs as well as natural hair. I also have a website that displays my handmade hair product line for sale and I also operate in person hair services in Northwest Arkansas. My clientele has mainly been built by passing out postcards while out and about in the community with my family.

My clientele has indeed increased due to there being minimum others offering quality services for northwest Arkansas’ growing loc community. Northwest Arkansas has grown to over 500,000 residents now with many people from diverse backgrounds and from all over the country moving to our thriving area due to our three growing Fortune 500 companies here. I love sharing my gift with my clients and loving on their locs all while teaching them to love their own locs. I also help clients find and learn about, as well as support other Black owned Hair Stylists.

Alexandrea’s story
Hello, I am Alexandrea and I am the owner of Love Thy Locs LLC, which operates as my home-based business in Fayetteville, AR. I am originally from the small town of Hope, AR, where I lived until going off to college and receiving my Bachelor’s of Science degree in Therapeutic Recreation from Grambling State University. I am the mother of two handsome boys and a wife to my amazing husband. Styling hair was something I taught myself to do strictly to save myself some money by doing my own hair- that quickly turned into others wanting me to do theirs also.

I have been doing hair for 10+ years as a small, Black women owned business but I always saw it as just a “side hustle” to my professional career as a recreational therapist. It wasn’t until moving to northwest Arkansas in 2019 that I decided to make my gift a little more serious. Unable to find work utilizing my degree, I worked as a camp counselor and then as a direct care specialist. During that time I was taking an online course to become a Certified Loctician. After completing my certification, I still only operated my hair business on the side of clocking in from 8-2 on the weekdays due to my family’s needs. It wasn’t until after the birth of my son in September of 2020, that I realized I needed to try to work for myself full-time and take my small minority owned business to the next level, thus being able to stay home with my newborn and 8 years old, virtual learner and not have to worry about daycare during 2020’s pandemic. I thank God for his timing and a supportive husband who encouraged me to move forward with my goals to become an entrepreneur.
